Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police say they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then located multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.
An important representative commented the attack left him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
