Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a major film company and introducing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
The preview shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
